Not Just For Kids.

Today's visit is to Dan Yr Ogof Caves on the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales;a small gold mining industry from days gone by.
The story began in 1912 on a summer's morning when two farming brothers named Tommy and Jeff Morgan investigated a source of water which was running into their farm.
They had no interest in caves and carried no special equipment they made their way 300 metres into the cave and proceeded to find a tiny passage above the river which around 30 yards further on broke into one of the finest show caves in Britain.

Today it is a precious treasure trove for children and young minded adults alike and we had a wonderful day out with grandchildren Ellie and Charlie.
Dan Yr Ogof Caves are also a venue for wedding ceremonies (photo included at the end of this hub)
Enjoy !!!

Excitement edged fear
Those tales of the great unknown
Compelled to follow.
x
Courageous ; daring
Heartbeats powerful echoes
Filling cold chambers.
x
Cascading treasures
A new realm of memories
Magical treasures.

Walk on
Each breath bated
Great moments tinged with fear
Such eerie drive so compelling
Careful footsteps;crackling repercussions
Rasping bone chilling evil breaths
Follow me if you dare
Nerves stretched and taut
Walk on.

Nervousness tightened
Over and over again
Trepidation and elation .
x
Fearful dark eerie visions
Oh to live a life on the edge
Reality callously thrown into oblivion.
x
Terrors echo and swell
Horrendously shattering
Excitement edged fear.

Dinosaurs so great
Oh so fearsome
Dare we advance
So gruesome a welcome.
x
With nerves of steel
Each heart so brave;
What dangers await??
Excitement we crave.

An explosion of myth
of great might
The land that time forgot
with heartbeats pounding
Is this my lot?
But with a being so brave;
those nerves of steel
fears we must conquer
to quash
to powerfully
throw back
into the realms
of oblivion.
Colossal mights
ferocious sounds
thrive
in a dark state.
A state
swelling uncontrollably
to the heavens above.
Cringing unashamedly
"Oh please do not harm me!!"
My advancing years being no armour;
my fears surfaced for all to see
to ridicule
Oh dearie dearie me !!!
Some one cruelly uttered
Scaredy cat!!"
"Coward !!"
"Daftie !!"
Roar !!!! Roar !!! Roar !!!
Quivering footsteps
that cry for help!!!
No one is listening
Oh help!!!
Oh help!!!
Oh help!!!
Why did I come ??
Am I the fool ??
Roar!!Roar !! Roar !!!
The crackling of twigs
like the splitting of taut nerves!!

Roar !!!Roar !!!Roar !!!

Great excitement
wondrous moments;
allow
that child
from deep within
to fly freely
on the breezes of joy.
Fly over the mountains
and down to each vale
Never trap from within
that wondrous child again.

A wedding ceremony at the caves.

What sweet memories
To cherish all through the years
Treasures so precious.
